2. Answer every question. There is no penalty for a wrong answer, so a reasoned guess is always better than a blank.
3. Each question carries one mark. There are 30 questions in each subject.
4. Unless a question says otherwise, exactly one option is correct. Choose the best answer, not merely an acceptable one.
5. For multiple choice questions, write the letter of your chosen option, A, B, C or D, in the answer column or on the separate answer sheet.
6. In Mathematics Part C, each item offers four answers plus N, not given. Work the computation first, then look for your answer among the choices. If your answer is not there, mark N. Do not assume that N is never correct.
7. No calculator is permitted anywhere on this assessment. All arithmetic is to be done by hand.
8. Where a question gives a passage, a table or a figure, your answer must be supported by that material and not by prior knowledge alone. Show units in any answer that asks for a measured quantity.
9. Work steadily. If a question is still open after about 60 seconds, mark it and return to it once you have reached the end of the paper.
10. In English Parts C and E, and wherever a No mistakes choice appears, mark No mistakes only if you are satisfied that every part is correct. Some rows and sentences contain no error at all.
